BELLADONNA

 CHERISE THOMSON SCULPTURE | BELLADONNA | UNIQUE SCULPTED LIGHT

Belladonna

Inspired by the beauty of the Amaryillis Belladonna flower, this a one-of-a-kind, handwoven, sculpted light contains 560 metres / 1832 feet of galvanized wire and is completed with custom lighting and steel fixtures by renowned New Zealand lighting engineer James Russ.

Measuring 180 cm / 70 inch tall and 62 cm / 24 inch at the widest point. 

Currently on display at the new James Russ Gallery.


KAI NUI

 CHERISE THOMSON SCULPTURE | KAI NUI | UNIQUE SCULPTED LIGHT

Kai Nui, a one-of-a-kind, handwoven sculpture containing 1,177 metres / 3862 feet of galvanized wire.

'Kai Nui', High Tide or Big Sea in Hawaiian, is a response to the artist's daily observations from her window watching ocean tides under the gravitational influence of the moon'.

43 cm / 17 inch high and 102 cm / 44 inch at the widest point.

Completed with custom lighting and steel fixtures by renowned New Zealand lighting engineer James Russ.

Now on display at the beautiful James Russ Gallery space.


PUA LAHA OLE’

 CHERISE THOMSON SCULPTURE | PUA LAHA OLE | UNIQUE SCULPTED LIGHT

Pua Laha Ole', a one-of-a-kind, handwoven sculpture containing 1023 metres / 3356 feet of galvanized wire.

'Pua Laha Ole' translates from Hawaiian to mean 'highly-prized rare blossom'.

73 cm / 29 inch high and 75 cm / 30 inch at the widest point.

Completed with custom lighting and steel fixtures by renowned New Zealand lighting engineer James Russ.

Now on display at the beautiful James Russ Gallery space. 


HINAKI AROHA

 CHERISE THOMSON SCULPTURE | HINAKI AROHA | UNIQUE SCULPTED LIGHT

Hīnaki Aroha, a one-of-a-kind, handwoven sculpture containing 1700 metres / 5577 feet of galvanized wire.

Influenced by the beauty and elegance of traditional Māori eel traps (hīnaki) this sculpture aspires to be a modern object reflecting the creative forces behind the unison of nature and people.

Hīnaki Aroha is 1.68 metres / 5.5 feet high and has been lit with custom lighting and steel fixtures by renowned New Zealand lighting engineer James Russ.

Now on display at the beautiful James Russ Gallery space.
